Tierra Farm opened up a store right at its farm in Valatie. Scott and I live down the road a piece so we stopped in to check it out.
Tierra Farm’s products are available all over the Capital Region and beyond. We first saw their products at the Honest Weight Food Co-Op in Albany. We bought their bulk nuts and coffee often. We’ve also seen them at the Troy Waterfront Farmer’s Market, the Berry Farm, and the Chatham Co-Op, to name a few places. They also own the old Muddy Cup Cafe in Albany – now redesigned and re-named Tierra Coffee Roasters.
One of the first things you’ll notice when you enter the store is the selection of free (!) coffee. I got a small cup of French Vanilla. I don’t usually like flavored coffee, but the french vanilla was subtle and not overly sweet or syrupy.
They have a wide selection of nuts, nut butters, dried fruit, fruit mixes, and granola. It’s all very reasonably priced for organic products. The fruit mixes sound awesome.
They also have a wide selection of chocolate covered fruits and nuts. They even sell chocolate chips and solid chocolate, which I hadn’t seen before.
One thing I really like about this store is that you can buy their products in bulk. I could easily eat my way through that tub of almond butter. No problem.
Scott was eyeing the 5 pounds of salted cashews. It’s a really good deal.
Finally, they have a wide variety of things to taste and try, if you’re not sure what you want.
We ended up taking home a bag of coffee and a small tub of seasoned pistachios. I think we’ll end up buying their products right from the store, as they have the widest selection of their products and the markups are understandably a little less than buying it from another store.
